Taking things into my own hands...

Some people out there know that I've been on the hunt for a job now for well over a year and half.

Yesterday--I applied for two positions.

Guess what was waiting in my inbox this morning?

Just guess.

Here--I'll share them with you:

I notice who ever spit out the form e-mail was too chicken to use their name in both cases. Note to you at Leaky Faucet, Inc : If you are going to sign an e-mail as being from "Human Resources", then you shouldn't use "I" in the preceding paragraph. "We" would have been the better choice. Maybe you should read the one from the tomato people above. It gets right to the point "We think you suck."

But here's the thing.

I don't suck, thank you very much. Not at all. I want to prove myself. To work in an environment where I actually (gasp) work hard and feel productive. I have lamented on my work ethic before (Apparently, I feel the need to "work too much". Pish.), but shouldn't it at least get my foot in the door somewhere? Good help is really not that hard to find people! Hello! Here I am!

So. Self promotion is shameless--but whatever. You know what they say about desperate times?? Without further adieu-here we go. Read it and weep. Like it? Drop me a line.   2. It works for some...I read about these guys standing at the bottom of an off ramp in Jersey handing out resumes to just about anyone--and it worked for them. So I said "why not?". But since I hate people loitering in harm's way, this seemed safer : )

  3. Rhea, it'd be ok to just post your resume. But the negative comments and complaints about employers is what takes it over the top.
    This is more than just standing at the bottom of an off ramp. This is like if the guys were standing at the bottom of an off ramp, with their resumes, and a big sign that said they hated their current employer or other employers that they have applied to.

  4. OK--let me clarify:

    I wish no ill-will on anyone, including my current employer. Not at all. I am just ready to move on and find it disconcerting to still be on the hunt after more than a year and half getting the same e-mail over and over again (which, for some reason, I still find amusing)and nothing but mounting frustration. It leads to a breaking point.

    My only issue with the e-mails above? The grammar thing (someone should really tell them...but it was a no-reply address). And the lack of contact information. It seems to be the norm these days. Sometimes, I wish for the days when you were able to actually talk to someone.

  5. As some one who just recently started his own business, I'm learning how careful one must be on public forums such as this or facebook and myspace. You may not have intended to say anything negative about your current employer or the companies that turned you down, but I agree with Anonymous. I'm personally trying to delete things that I wrote more than 5 years ago just because for some it could be offensive, even if I didn't intend for it to be. My niece almost got fired from a job for posting some comment on facebook that she thought was private.
